The Mombasa County Hockey Association (MCHA) has officially released the fixtures for the much-anticipated MCHA National Hockey Tournament, set to take place over the weekend of October 18–19, 2025 at the Mombasa Sports Club (MSC). The event, hosted under the banner “MCHA Swans National Tournament 2025,” promises to be one of the most exciting hockey gatherings in Kenya this year, bringing together 17 men’s teams and 10 ladies’ teams from across the country.
This year’s edition marks a significant milestone for MCHA, reflecting the growing popularity and competitiveness of hockey at the coast. The tournament will feature a two-day hockey festival format, with all pool, classification, and knockout matches compressed into an action-packed schedule at Mombasa Sports Club’s two grounds.
Tournament Structure
The men’s competition will see the 17 teams split into four pools (A–D), while the women’s category features two pools (E–F). Each team will battle through the round-robin stage on Saturday before advancing to cross-over, quarterfinal, and semifinal rounds on Sunday.
Top teams from each pool will qualify directly for the quarterfinals, while second- and third-placed sides will face off in crossover matches for the remaining slots. From there, knockout fixtures will determine who proceeds to the semifinals and finals scheduled for Sunday afternoon.
Pool matches will run for 15 minutes straight, with no halftime, while knockout games will have two halves of 10 or 15 minutes, depending on the stage. In the event of a draw, games will proceed directly to 8-sec Challenge (a three-pax shootout), keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
Teams to Watch
The men’s side features a stellar lineup of teams, including USIU Men, SIMAH, Coast Hockey Bro’s, Taskforce, New Comers Mamba Hockey, and young boys St. Charles Lwanga (B), among others. Each expected to bring its own flavor and experience, promising intense competition from the opening whistle.
For the women, previous champions USIU Ladies and BHC Simah will be looking to extend their dominance but will face stiff opposition from the likes of Meximed Ladies, MSC Ladies, Twinkle H.C, BHC Simah, and St. Charles Lwanga (W). With the depth of quality on display, the women’s division is expected to also produce some of the weekend’s entertaining clashes.
